He is the Founder and Artistic Director of Iris Theatre based in Covent Garden, London. Iris is an independent theatre company which presents a wide variety of site-specific work across a range of theatrical styles. From opera to Shakespeare to circus and dance. Iris creates fun, accessible, enthralling work which aims to appeal to everyone. Dan's last professional production outside of Iris was this Christmas 2012 at The Castle, Wellingborough where he directed their new musical version of Sleeping Beauty. With excellent reviews in both local and national press this was "a festive treat" for all the family. With Iris Theatre in 2013 Dan is preparing for the biggest summer yet with two shows running throughout July and August. The same seven actors will be tackling first Julius Caesar and then Alice in Wonderland. Other projects in development include 'Circuit', an Arts Council-funded circus, dance & theatre show. In the last couple of years Dan has worked on an exciting and varied mix of new work. This has included; Workin Process 1, 2 & 3, three new writing showcases, Gutter Press, a brand new musical theatre show, and Circuit, a new circus-based theatre show. Directing with First Draft Theatre has included April Showers, a new play showcase at The Horse in Waterloo, as well as devising a physical theatre show inspired by Wyndham Lewis' 1912 art magazine BLAST!” On the film and TV side, Dan has worked as a casting director, production manager, and most recently as producer on upcoming independent feature film Senet. In the future he hopes to direct for camera. Dan's work is informed by his varied influences; which range from acting, having trained at Drama Centre, London, all the way to Theoretical Physics, having gained a PhD from Imperial College, London. Though he has lived in London for nearly 20 years, Dan is a proud Lancastrian at heart, having grown up in Bolton.
