Key Stage 4 / GCSE School Workshop (with additional learning resources)

Abercorn School - Workshop July 2011

Using specific props as starting points we will explore the characters of the play.

Using games, character workshops and physical mapping we will explore the plot and relationships in the play.

With our support the children will explore the language of key scenes and speeches, bringing clarity and understanding to Shakespeare's words and images by directly experiencing them.

We will use interactive techniques to get the children to contextualise these key scenes and explore the parallels between the world of the play and their own lives and experiences.

Using physical visualisations and games we will explore the nature of Shakespeare's language; the rhythm, the rhymes, the antithesis, etc.

If there are specific themes and scenes which are of interest for you and your pupils we can adjust the workshop to match those needs.

School Testimonial

"We were a group of about 50 and it was a beautiful, warm evening. I just wanted to say how very much we enjoyed it - I had a whole range of ages with me (from A-level to Year 7) and they all loved it. We thought it was both funny and tragic and the setting was so perfect.
Your production really inspired the children. We are involved in the Shakespeare schools festival so take a real interest in the creative performance of Shakespeare. "
